Sammy Carter & The Vagabond Collective
Blessed with a voice that would still a raging crowd, Sammy is a wonderful interpreter of songs both traditional and modern. The purity, power and expressiveness of her delivery has graced a number of genres, but it is acoustic music in the folk tradition that is her first love.
Since recording The Woodworm Sessions 2016, Sammy has performed a number of festival and club gigs, including Lichfield Festival of Folk. She is now a front-line doctor, so her performances are rare and treasured. Her appearance at Festival of the Artisan will be her last gig before leaving the UK to live in Australia.
Cilian Fennell, Producer of the award-winning documentary The Shane MacGowan Story, describes Sammy as having ‘a voice both regal and forlorn in the same breath, as if she were channelling Rapunzel.’
‘A spellbinding performance by Sammy Carter & the Vagabond Collective produced a collection of moving and inspirational songs. She is, without doubt, one of the finest voices currently performing in British folk and roots music.’
